FemInSTEM Club Hosts STEM Day for Younger Girls

More than 100 girls ages 7-13 were empowered by Carmel FemInSTEM members as they participated in the 2nd annual Girls STEM Day at Carmel on January 18. Activities included an escape room, lava lamp building, coding workshops, an astronomy workshop by a NASA-trained Carmel teacher, robots, building challenges, and much more.

Michael Wattelet '20 Named IMEA All-District

Senior Michael Wattelet made the Illinois Music Educators Association All-District Classical and Jazz band this year, and will also be representing Carmel at ILMEA All-State on jazz trumpet at the end of January 2020.

Cardinal Blase Cupich Joins Carmel Community for All-School Mass

Cardinal Blase Cupich visited Carmel Catholic on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 to preside over an all-school Mass celebrating the Lunar New Year, a prominent liturgical custom in certain Asian countries. This Mass of Thanksgiving highlighted the cultural importance of family, service, and gratitude — above all, gratitude to God for the blessings we have received.

Street Scenes is February 7 & 8

Join us for Carmel Catholic's largest annual fundraiser, featuring more than 50 bands, a casino, improv, theater, food, and drinks. Each year in February, hundreds of Carmel Catholic volunteers transform the school into a spectacular fun-filled venue. Through the generous efforts of our students, their parents, Carmel alumni, and friends, Street Scenes contributes more than $300,000 each year to support the academic programs at Carmel Catholic.

Students Attend Immigration Posada in Chicago

On December 13, students participated in the 14th Annual Posada for Immigration Reform hosted by the Archdiocese of Chicago outside the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services Center in Chicago.

Seven Young Women Receive Archdiocesan Golden Rose Award

On Saturday, December 7th the Archdiocesan Council for Catholic Women (ACCW) Vicariate 1 awarded seven Carmel Catholic young women the Golden Rose Award. These young women were nominated by their parishes for their outstanding contribution to their parishes and for their leadership.

Students, Staff and Volunteers Pack Feed My Starving Children

On November 19, the Social Justice Club sponsored a trip to Feed My Starving Children to pack boxes of food to be shipped all around the world to feed the hungry. There were 153 Carmel community members present, mostly students, teachers and parent volunteers. The group packed 177 boxes or 38,232 meals, feeding 104 children for a year.
