Corsairs Care
Corsairs Care (formerly known as Walkathon) has been integral to the Carmel Catholic High School experience for the past 45 years. What began in 1979 as a fundraiser to support the mission of Carmel Catholic has become an annual event for our students to serve the global community. The foundation of Carmel Catholic High School is the charisms inherited by our founders: the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (BVM) and the Order of Carmelites.
Corsairs Care is one of the ways in which we actively live out those charisms, specifically service and justice. Together, our students, parents, faculty and staff again participated as a school community serving our sisters and brothers while supporting the needs of Carmel Catholic.
In May 2023, we answered the call to help our Carmel Catholic Community be good stewards of God's gifts through our Corsairs Care initiative. Our student body, faculty, staff, and volunteers came together to put Christ’s love into action. Together, we celebrated Mass, walked a 5k, learned about global hunger, and packed 182,304 meals for Feed My Starving Children, which fed 497 children for an entire year. We also raised enough funds to pay for the cost of these meals and to purchase a new "Corsairs in the Community" minibus that will help us strengthen and broaden our Christian Service outreach.
In May 2024, we again partnered with Feed My Starving Children to provide and pack more than 205,000 meals for children around the world. In addition, we also turned to the needs of our Carmel Catholic community with an upgrade to the audio/visual capabilities in the Salvi Arena. This new Digital System will enhance participation during all-school Masses, sporting events, pep rallies, community gatherings, and assemblies. This day of service is one we look forward to continuing next year. Stay tuned for information on how you can be involved.
