Missed the Entrance Exam? Schedule a Make-Up!

The entrance exam is offered to 8th-grade students seeking admission to Carmel Catholic High School. Students complete the Scholastic High School Placement Test (HSPT), which is used as part of our admissions review. In addition to the HSPT, we also review other academic data, such as transcripts, grades, and standardized test scores, to ensure a comprehensive evaluation of each applicant. The test is available to students who have not previously taken it at any other Catholic high school in the Archdiocese of Chicago.

Registration: If you have an account, please proceed to our Admissions Portal to locate the entrance exam registration link. If you are new to our system, please fill out an Inquiry Form to gain access to the Admissions Portal.
Fee: $25, payable online.
Length: Approximately 3 hours
Calculators: not permitted
Test Accommodations: If your student has a learning plan such as an IEP or 504 plan, they may be eligible for limited testing accommodations. Please fill out an Accommodation Request Form.
REQUIRED: After registering for the Entrance Exam, please complete the Application for Admission found in your Admissions Portal as soon as possible. This required step ensures that we receive your student’s records in time for evaluation.

Shadow Day: August–May

Prospective students spend a day on campus alongside a current Carmel Catholic student as they immerse themself in our community, attend classes, and witness the joy and friendship that permeate through our hallways.

Who Can Visit With Us?

During the fall semester, the Shadow Day program is open to 8th grade students as well as prospective high school transfer students entering grades 9, 10 and 11. Starting in January, 7th grade students are welcome to shadow.

What Should I Expect?

Visiting students will interact with their future classmates and teachers as they trace an academic schedule, and will enjoy a complimentary lunch from the cafeteria. Shadow Days are be offered on most school days and are held from 7:45 a.m. to 1:50 p.m. Please register online at least two school days in advance.

Who Will My Child Shadow?

You have two options – request a specific student as your child's guide, or provide us with some of your child's interests and we will pair them up with a wonderful student guide.

How do I Schedule a Visit?

Parents must register their child online at least two school days in advance of their preferred visit date.

Campus Tours: Throughout the Year

Explore our sprawling 55-acre campus by registering for a guided tour, led by a member of the Carmel Catholic admissions team. Journey through the halls that have welcomed generations of Corsairs, and receive an insider's look at the future of the Carmel Catholic campus. Campus tours are offered weekly on Wednesdays at 8 am and 11:45 am. All visitors must register in advance. Financial Aid Seminars: Throughout the Year

As a Catholic institution, Carmel Catholic is committed to making a college preparatory education available to all who wish to share in our mission. To assist prospective families, we invite parents to attend a financial aid seminar, where information regarding the cost of attendance and financial assistance will be presented. Open House – Held Annually in November

For families considering their child’s high school education, Carmel Catholic High School’s Open House is more than a campus visit—it’s a chance to experience the heart of the Corsair community.

From the moment you walk through the doors, you'll be greeted by student ambassadors eager to share their own Carmel Catholic journeys. Guided tours will lead you through classrooms, labs, arts, and athletic facilities, offering a preview of the space that will become the new Corsair Student Center in 2026. Along the way, faculty, coaches, and administrators will be available to answer questions and share their passion for helping students thrive.

All ages are welcome.

Throughout the school year and summer, Carmel Catholic offers a wide range of courses and camps designed especially for younger students. These opportunities allow students to get involved in our community, build new friendships, strengthen their academic and athletic skills, and even earn high school credit.

From engaging academic courses to dynamic athletic camps and select programs offered during the school year, there are many ways for students to experience life at Carmel before high school begins.

Plus, families from our Catholic education partner schools are eligible to take certain academic courses for free.

Don't forget, if your student attended a Shadow Day this year, they can bring their lanyard to receive free admission to all regular-season athletic events at Carmel!
