Street Scenes Returns February 6-7!

The theme for this year's extravaganza is “Under the Sea” and promises attendees partying their way through a myriad of themed classrooms and other areas throughout the campus. Each night’s festivities begin at 6 pm. Tickets are $35 pre-purchased online and $40 at the door. Guests must be 21 or older to attend.

Street Scenes has contributed over $13 million to help Carmel Catholic High School students achieve their educational goals by keeping tuition as low as possible and ensuring the best programming, activities, and resources.

During the event, guests can move from room to room, enjoying live music, theatrical performances, improv, comedy acts, a magic show, and the always-popular cabaret-style Student Show. Musical performances will include country, pop, R&B, rock, jazz, and more.

Many event favorites will return this year, including Jacob Street, casino games such as craps and roulette with raffle ticket earnings rather than cash, and an Irish Pub featuring Irish dancers. Street Scenes will feature a 50/50 raffle and an outstanding silent auction, both available online.

As always, great food from local establishments will be on-site during the event.

“Marking 52 years of the most successful fundraiser in school history demonstrates an incredible sense of community, where the entire Carmel Catholic family, both past and present, gather under one roof to celebrate a rich tradition,” said Event Director Michelle (Karrigan ‘92) Ptasienski. “We see so many groups with no Carmel affiliation but who met at Street Scenes and return every year to catch up and rekindle those relationships. It’s a great way to meet people and support a great cause.”

Many of the school’s clubs and athletic teams will be decorating numerous classrooms. Event organizers hope that by doing so, rooms hosting live entertainment will be adorned in a way that reminds our guests of the strong sense of community here at Carmel.

Complimentary on-site parking is offered as space is available at Carmel Catholic High School. Preferred on-site parking will also be available for $20 as space is available. Additional complimentary parking is available at the Mundelein Metra Train Station commuter lot and at Ace Hardware. Courtesy shuttle buses will operate throughout the evening, running to and from this location. The last bus will depart at 1 a.m.

Special performances of the popular Student Show will be offered for all ages with a pair of performances for all ages on Sunday, February 1 and then again on Thursday, February 5, in the Carmel Catholic High School auditorium. Student Show tickets are $7 with no reserved seating.

 A Tradition Like None Other

In 1974, a group of parent volunteers sought to raise money for Carmel Catholic High School. At the time, there were two separate schools – one for the girls and one for the boys – with which came separate fundraisers for each school. The families thought of combining the schools’ fundraisers into one major event.

Over the years, Street Scenes flourished and became a mainstay for students, parents, alumni, and community members. Those founding families would be proud knowing that their idea has raised over $13 million in Street Scenes’ 52-year history, benefitting Carmel Catholic students by providing them with countless resources to support their education and growth at Carmel Catholic.

For more than six decades, Carmel Catholic graduates have offered their citizenship and service to the world. From the classroom to the boardroom and from fields of athletic competition to those of scientific discovery, generations of Carmel Catholic students have left our halls with the ability to understand and contribute to the greater good of society.
