Spring Semester 2019 Student Art Exhibition

The event was a success! A great crowd of Carmel community members came out to see the artwork and to support the students, which were excited to talk about their work with families and friends. In addition to our Carmel families and friends, this year, with the support from Kristen Hansel of the Mundelein Arts Commission, we had visitors from the larger Mundelein community who came out to see the wonderful artwork on display. During the evening, there was live music provided by Mr. Barclay and our Carmel Jazz Combo. Grace Jones ‘19 joined in singing two solos as the gentlemen played all throughout the event.

3 Stars Design Co., a student-run collaborative made up of Graphic Design students, created screen printed t-shirts, tote bags, drawstring bags, and small memo books; many of our visitors now own one or more of those wonderful student made products. Another great moment of the event was when Allison Bryant ‘19 received the Fine Arts Department Visual Art Award, which was handed to her by Mrs. Jaimes and Ms. Murczek.

Overall, all of the black and white photographs, cyanotype and van dyke brown darkroom prints, photograms, silkscreen prints, motivational posters, Orchesis portraits, baguette portraits, mosaic value portraits, stencil symbols, blind contour drawings, negative space drawings, Pop Art inspired relief-prints, oil paintings, pottery, and the All Are Welcome splatter painted boards were absolutely amazing!
