Inclusion Program

Overview:

The Community of Learners Program at Carmel Catholic High School provides an inclusive educational experience for students with intellectual disabilities. Students engage in general education classes alongside peers, while receiving individualized academic support through a modified curriculum. The program is designed to foster independence, growth, and community participation.

Eligibility Criteria:

The student must currently be in 8th grade at a grammar school.
The student should be at least 14 years old at the time of enrollment.
The student must have an intellectual disability, as identified in their IEP (Individualized Education Plan).
Proficiency in math and English at a 2nd to 5th-grade level.
Ability to follow high behavior expectations of the CCHS community.
Ability to interact appropriately with peers and staff.
Must be able to work one-on-one with a peer mentor.
Ability to participate in classroom and social activities without the use of an educational assistant.
Must demonstrate self-care independence.
Must show the ability to thrive in an inclusive educational environment.
