Corsairs Care – Walkathon
As Carmel Catholic Corsairs, the charisms inherited from our founders tie our time-honored traditions together with our zeal to serve and our profound commitment to creating a lasting and impactful legacy for the future. We act as one community centered in Christ, putting love into action in the world and on the campus we call home.
This year, we are launching Corsairs Care. This concept embraces the 43 years of our Walkathon tradition and our desire to serve others by purchasing mobile extensions of our campus that will benefit all students by expanding our service outreach.
On Friday, May 12, our day will begin with all students walking a 5k at St. Mary’s of the Lake, Mundelein Seminary, as one community. Back on campus, students will transition into a Feed My Starving Children Mobile Pack event, where together, we will strive to pack over 171,000 meals. During the day, students will also participate in sessions that clarify our roles as stewards of God’s gifts and the difference we can make by working together as Corsairs who care.
The funds we raise for this event will pay for the cost of the food we are packing, as well as purchasing “Corsairs Care” minibusses that will help expand our outreach in our local community through service opportunities. These additional vehicles will allow our students and faculty to travel safely throughout our community and allow for an expanded Christian Service program.
The school goal is $171,000 (which matches the number of food packages we will produce). Each student is asked to raise $161.
