The donation will provide for a series of improvements designed to modernize the sports arena and create an enhanced experience for students, athletes, families and alumni.
Planned renovations include repainting the arena from floor to ceiling, installing a top-grade sound system, repairing and rebranding the bleachers, updating the trophy case and enhancing the arena’s lower-level walls with a modern Carmel-branded design. New signage throughout the arena will also promote the school’s championship achievements, team accomplishments and highlight members of the Carmel Catholic Hall of Fame. The project builds on recent improvements to the arena, including the installation of LED lighting and a new video display board.
The Patrick A. Salvi Arena was constructed in 1995 and named in honor of Salvi. It has since served as a venue for generations of Carmel students, student-athletes, families and alumni.
Patrick A. Salvi, a 1971 graduate of Carmel Catholic, has maintained a longstanding connection to his alma mater. He and Lindy have supported the school through scholarship gifts that have helped provide students with the opportunity to attend Carmel and experience its academic, athletic and extracurricular programs. All five of the Salvis’ sons also attended Carmel Catholic.
“When President Bonham of Carmel Catholic told me they needed $300,000 for improvements to the Patrick A. Salvi Arena, I thought, well, I should pay that!” Patrick A. Salvi Sr. said, laughing. “Who better to help fund improvements to the arena than the guy whose name is on it? Carmel Catholic has been incredibly meaningful to our family, and we are grateful for the opportunity to give back to a school that does so much for its students.”
The arena renovations are expected to begin within the next few months.
