Parent Program Offers Practical Tools for Better Conversations, Stronger Self-Talk, and Early Intervention

The program covered:

  • Understanding Learned Behavior — how everyday patterns take shape and how parents can help reshape them
  • Empowering Self-Talk — building a healthier internal dialogue in young people
  • Recognizing Gateway Behavior — spotting early warning signs before they grow into bigger issues
  • Fact-Checking — helping teens separate feelings from facts
  • Better Questions — conversation techniques that open doors instead of closing them
  • The 3 People Everybody Needs — identifying key sources of support in a young person's life

Parents who attended left with simple, usable language, conversation starters, and repeatable Mental Fitness tools they can begin applying at home right away. The goal of the evening was to foster stronger communication within families and give young people more opportunities to ask for help before challenges become entrenched patterns.

Sam Anthony also presented the next day at an all-school assembly centered on mental health. His presentation kicked off Wellness Day before students moved into student-chosen activities.

This speaker was made possible by Megan Butz Legacy of Hope.
