Carmel Hosts "Hockey Fights Cancer Night"

Organized by parent volunteers of the Carmel Hockey program, this annual event held on October 19, 2021, raises awareness, brings the community together, and raises money in support of cancer treatment and care. This year, parents of the Barrington Hockey program joined in the night’s activities by actively engaging in the fundraising activities, including bidding on silent auction items, buying T-shirts and baked goods, participating in the Chuck-A-Puck contest, and the 50/50 raffle.

Highlights of the evening included special recognition of Carmel Catholic High School Senior, Drew Lobo, who is personal friends with several players on Carmel’s Hockey team and who is currently battling Glioblastoma. Seniors Nolan Herubin, Ethan Sykes, and Andrew Munro each shared some words of friendship and courage about Drew in front of a full house before the game. The game was broadcast live through the SHL Network with Carmel Catholic High School’s pep band, directed by Tim Barclay, boosting the energy throughout the evening.
