Entrance Exam

The entrance exam is offered to 8th-grade students seeking admission to Carmel Catholic High School. Students will complete the Scholastic High School Placement Test (HSPT), which will be used as part of our admissions review. In addition to the HSPT, we will also review other academic data such as transcripts, grades, and standardized test scores to ensure a comprehensive evaluation of each applicant. The test is available to students who have not previously taken the test at any other Catholic high school within the Archdiocese of Chicago.

• When: December 6, 2025, at 8:00 a.m.
• Location: Catholic High School
• Registration: Registration begins on November 14. If you have an account, please proceed to our Admissions Portal to locate the entrance exam registration link. If you are new to our system, please fill out an Inquiry Form to gain access to the Admissions Portal.
• Fee: $25, payable online.
• Length: Approximately 3 hours
• Calculators: not permitted
• Test Accommodations: If your student has a learning plan such as an IEP or 504 plan, they may be eligible for limited testing accommodations. Please fill out an Accommodation Request Form before November 30, 2025. 
• REQUIRED: After registering for the Entrance Exam, please complete the Application for Admission found in your Admissions Portal as soon as possible. This required step ensures that we receive your student’s records in time for evaluation.
