Dr. Bonham Registers Carmel Catholic for Laudato Si' Action Platform

Carmel Catholic President Dr. Brad Bonham, along with students Bridget Mc Loud '23 (President of Environmental Club), Yujing Sung '23 (Environmental Club member and native of South Korea), and Diego Medina '24 (Environmental Club member), registered the school for the Laudato Si' Auction Platform on October 4, coinciding with the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi who is the patron saint of the environment and animals.

Carmel Kicks Off "Green Team”

An exciting new committee has been established at Carmel – the Green Team – and includes teachers, staff, alumni, and students. Spearheaded by science teacher and newly named Campus Sustainability Manager Mrs. Michelle Titterton, the committee is taking a deep dive into helping educate through a new sustainable management program.

Leo Baumann '25 Recognized by Catholic Charities of Des Plaines

On June 8, 2022, the team at Catholic Charities of Des Plaines recognized two of their youngest volunteers – Leo Baumann, of Carmel Catholic High School, and Nick Bobay, of Loyola Academy. This past year, from December through June, these two students made and donated almost 400 brown bag lunches.

Students Lead Halloween Costume Drive

Mark Zitella '24 and Rhett Wolf '24 are spearheading a Halloween Costume Drive for children. A donation box is located at CCHS in the Kathy A. Nemmers Welcome Center and at local Catholic grade schools around Lake County. The costumes will be distributed through the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Canonization of St. Titus Brandsma, O.Carm. Celebrated Across Campus

On May 15, 2022, in the first canonization ceremony in two and a half years, Blessed Titus Brandsma, O.Carm was canonized by Pope Francis in Rome. For nearly 60 years Carmel Catholic High School has been inspired by Brandsma’s heroic witness and has been blessed by his intercession. Our beloved Brandsma Chapel is one of the few places in the world named to honor him.
