Illinois State Seal of Biliteracy

sealCarmel recognizes high school graduates who have obtained a high level of proficiency in Spanish, Chinese or French by offering the Illinois State Seal of Biliteracy. The Seal of Biliteracy is noted on the student’s high school transcript and diploma.

Students can also earn free college credit from many colleges and universities based on having earned the Seal of Biliteracy.

Carmel students are eligible for the seal if they:

  • Earn I-5 or A on all parts of the AAPPL Test (This test is taken every year by students in Spanish, Chinese, and French at Carmel Catholic)
  • Earn a score of 21 or higher on the ACT (To demonstrate proficiency in English)

For more information on the Seal of Biliteracy at Carmel Catholic, please email the World Language Department Chair, Mr. Greg Schwab at [email protected].
