Food Waste and Composting

During the 2022-2023 school year, Carmel Catholic instituted a new waste collection process in the cafeteria. This initiative is led by data generated by students from a cafeteria food waste audit. Students now place food waste and other compostable items in bins which are then taken to a composting facility. Students also learn about composting through composting initiatives in Elijah’s garden.
