Illinois Invest in Kids Tax Credit Scholarship Program

Donors can provide direct scholarships for low-income students and receive a powerful 75% credit on their Illinois state taxes through the Invest in Kids Tax Credit Scholarship program.

"This opportunity allows our children to excel educationally and hopefully put them in the position to give back in the future. This program is beneficial to so many people - those able to donate to it and especially to those receiving the available funding from the generous donations. It sets these children on a path to do amazing things that they would not otherwise have the opportunity to do."

Increase Student Opportunities

The state program Invest in Kids/Illinois Tax Credit Scholarship Program offers a transformational opportunity for private schools through tax credit scholarships (TCS). Children in our state from low-income families will have access to new scholarships to attend non-public schools. Tax credit scholarships cover up to 100 percent of tuition and fees for students. Scholarship eligibility is based on a family's income.

Lower Your Tax Bill

The program provides Illinois state income tax credits to individuals and corporations who contribute money to an approved Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO). SGOs are independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that award scholarships to eligible students from low-income families. Individuals and corporations may receive a credit for their Illinois state taxes equal to 75 percent of donations to an SGO. Individuals can designate their donation to Carmel Catholic High School.

For example, donate $5,000, and receive a $3,750 credit against your Illinois income tax. You can direct your donation to Carmel Catholic. Carmel students who need financial assistance receive the total value of your $5,000 donation.
