Girls' Gymnastics Finishes Season as 2020 IHSA State Runner Up

Congratulations to our girls' gymnastics team on their impressive second-place finish at a thrilling IHSA state championship meet February 21 and 22. While also collecting several individual top finishes, Carmel produced two state champions. Lyndsey Basara '21 tied for 1st on the vault and Clare Keane '22 won the uneven parallel bars. Isabella Kropiwiec '20 earned third place on floor while Basara placed fourth. Kropiwiec also tied for fifth on vault, while Keane finished sixth in the all-around.
Robotics

World Champion NYAN Robotics Team Provides Outreach for Lake Forest Middle Schoolers

Members of the World Champion Carmel Catholic High School Robotics Team rolled into the School of St. Mary gymnasium January 25 and were greeted like rock stars. The Not Year Average Nerds (NYAN) team delivered a presentation on the factors that went into their winning the 2019 World Championship while providing an important message: That robotics and STEM can be cool.
Gymnastics

Gymnastics Wins Sectional Championship

The varsity gymnastics team captured the Sectional Championship on February 13 at Mundelein High School and will advance to the IHSA State Championships at Palatine High School on February 21. Carmel had individual champions in every event at Sectionals. Izzy Kropiwiec won vault and floor, Lyndsey Basara won beam, and Clare Keane took the top spot on bars.
Gymnastics

Gymnastics Captures 18th Consecutive Regional Title

The varsity girls' gymnastics team earned their 18th Regional Championship in a row on February 4, 2020, at Vernon Hills High School after earning one of their highest scores of the season. Lyndsey Basara '21 was Regional Champion on all events except beam, and that title went to Clare Keane '22.
Essay Winners

Students' Essays Win BVM Contest

Congratulations to Jeremy Kamman '20 (1st place), Jennifer Bukowski '22 (2nd place) and Sofia Coury '21 (3rd place) for winning a Catholic Schools Week essay contest hosted by The Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Students in high schools across the country were encouraged to submit essays relating to the Catholic Schools Week theme, "Learn, Serve, Lead, Succeed." The BVMs asked students to think about their education in their Catholic school, how it impacts their lives and how it relates to this theme. Winners were announced on January 31 and gift cards were given as prizes.
