Transportation Options 2009-2010

Bus Transportation

  • Times and routes are approximate.
  • All Carmel Catholic bus routes are tentative.
  • A minimum of 25 students is needed for a bus route to run.
  • One Way (same price for all routes): $800
  • Two Way (same price for all routes A-F): $1250
  • Download transportation form here. Form is due by July 1, 2009. Forms received after this date will be on a first come-first serve basis and some routes might be unalterable.

Subscription is on a yearly basis. There are no refunds. You may subscribe for round trip or one way service. You may pay in total or you must use the same payment plan as you are using for tuition. If you are using the FACTS Program the first month's payment is due with the registration form. Carmel Catholic High School reserves the right to cancel a route if subscriptions are insufficient to support the route. If this occurs your subscription fee will be returned to you.

Mundelein and Libertyville High School Districts

Carmel students are transported by the local high school district bus from their neighborhood to the public school. They are then transported to Carmel. The process is reversed in the afternoon. There is no charge for this service. This service runs on days when the public high school is in session. The Mundelein bus routes will bring students to the west side of Mundelein High School. The shuttle bus will stay until 7:30 AM when it will leave for Carmel. In the afternoon, the Mundelein Shuttle will pick up at the Salvi Arena at 3:05 PM and will take the students back to Mundelein for their afternoon routes. The Libertyville bus routes will bring students to the Libertyville campus between 7:15 AM & 7:25 AM. Walkers or students driven to Libertyville must arrive at Libertyville before 7:30 AM to use this service. The Libertyville Shuttle will be stationed in back of the building and will leave at 7:30 AM to bring students to Carmel. This bus should arrive at Carmel at 7:40 AM. There will be NO afternoon service to Libertyville High School and NO morning or afternoon service to Vernon Hills High School because of time conflicts.

Service A: Barrington

From/To Barrington Area: Students arrive at Hwy. 14 & Hwy. 59 (North Side Park) by 6:50 AM and at Hwy. 59 & Kelsey Road (White Hen Pantry) at 7:10 AM. Students are returned at approximately 4:00 PM.

Service B: Lake Zurich High School District

From/To Lake Zurich High School District: Students arrive at Middle School North at approximately 7:20 AM. Middle School North=s neighborhood transportation may be used for the morning route. South School=s service arrives too late to be used so it will be necessary for parents to transport their children to Middle School North by 7:20 AM. Afternoon neighborhood service is available for all of Lake Zurich School District. Students are returned to Lake Zurich High School at approximately 3:15 PM and catch the various neighborhood buses home. Students using this route will be dismissed 5 minutes early from class on 3:00 PM dismissal days so this bus can depart to make connections at Lake Zurich.

Service C: Wauconda High School District

From/To Wauconda High School District: Students arrive at Wauconda H.S. at approximately 7:20 AM, except on Friday's there will be no AM public school service, students are returned to Transfiguration School at approximately 3:20 PM and catch the various neighborhood buses home.

Service D: Southeast

From/To Southeast area: The route will begin with a pick up at Route 176 & Route 43. The rest of the pick up points for this year are Navy Lodge in North Chicago, Old Elm Golf Club in Lake Forest, St. James in Highwood, Immaculate Conception in Highland Park, Holy Cross in Deerfield, and St. Mary=s of Buffalo Grove. This route will vary based upon subscriptions.

Service E: North

From/To North area: The service for this year begins at Route 83 & Route 132, and travels north to Antioch and then loops back around and travels south to Carmel. The rest of the pick up points for this year are, Grand & Hillcrest, High Point Road & Beck Road, Heron Dr. & Waterford, Grass Lake & Auburn Road, Gelden Road & Cross Wind Road, Route 173 & Route 59, Route 59 & Lehmann Blvd., Monaville & Alberta Ave., and Cedar Lake Road & Rollins Rd. This route will vary based upon subscriptions.

Service F: Northeast

From/To Northeast area: The service for this year begins at Golf & Jackson St., and travels north to 9th Street with stops at Monroe, Washington, and Lorelei Dr.. The route continues to Russell & Sterling Estates, Route 41 & Route 173, Route 41 & Wadsworth Rd., Stearns School Rd. & Westfield Dr., Fox Hill Dr. & Thoroughbred Dr., and Hunt Club Rd. & Washington St.. This route will vary based upon subscriptions.

Mundelein Train Station Shuttle

Service T: This is an AM shuttle service only from the Mundelein Train Station to Carmel. There are two pickup times from the Mundelein Station, one is at 6:32 AM and the second pickup time is at 7:13 AM. This van shuttle service will run with a subscription of 20 students. This shuttle service has a subscription fee of $270.

Alternate Forms of Transportation

Students residing in the Fox Lake, Ingleside, Round Lake, Highland Park, Deerfield areas have several options in regard to public transportation. They may take the Metra North Line from the community train station to Libertyville and then transfer to PACE Route 572 to come to Carmel. Students residing in the Antioch, Lake Villa, Round Lake Beach, Prairie Crossing/Libertyville areas may take the North Central Service train to the Mundelein station and either walk, use PACE 572, or use the van service to get to Carmel.
