The Honors Program
The Honors Program is a rigorous curriculum for academically talented and highly motivated students that focuses on quality, accuracy and dedication to scholarship in order to prepare our students for the academic demands to be encountered in the most selective colleges.
We currently offer 42 classes in the Honors and Advanced Placement Programs that move at a rapid pace for maximum growth, encouraging the student to accept the challenges of Carmel’s college-preparatory curriculum. This program has proven to be successful in allowing students to gain college credit hours through the College Board’s Advanced Placement Program.
The Advanced Placement (AP) Program
The Advanced Placement Program is a cooperative educational endeavor among high schools and colleges and universities. Carmel Catholic’s participation in this program provides motivated students the opportunity to take college-level courses, and earn college credit while they are at Carmel. Dedicated and enthusiastic faculty teach Carmel’s AP courses and follow course guidelines developed and published by the College Board.
AP courses, and exams represent the beginning of the journey through college-level academic challenges. These classes give Carmel students the ability to analyze problems effectively, improve their writing skills, and most importantly develop skills and study habits that are vital in college.
Carmel offers 19 AP classes across the curriculum; therefore, opportunity abounds for students to study subjects of their choice in greater depth. Carmel students have traditionally performed as “Scholars” on these exams, far exceeding the national average.
